Scanning Client Application - Introduction

Introduction

The ScrewDrivers Scanning Client app gives you control over your scanning setup in remote sessions. While your administrator handles the basic configuration, having access to this app is really valuable - it's actually pretty rare for the default scanner to be exactly the right one for your needs, or even to have the correct driver type selected. With access to the app, you can test your scanners and choose the right scanner and driver type for your specific situation.

If you're having trouble with scanning, the first thing to check is whether you've got the right scanner selected with the correct driver type. The Scanning Client app makes it easy to test and switch between options.

Understanding the Interface

The Scanning Client app organizes settings across five main tabs, each represented by an icon on the left side of the window. When you first open the app, you'll notice the tab bar is collapsed to save space. Just hover your cursor over an icon to see a tooltip with the tab name, or click the hamburger menu to expand the full tab bar.

Scanning Settings Tab: This is where you'll configure the core settings for your remote scanning session, including RDP encryption and compression, duplex scanning options, and virtual channel settings.

Scanners Tab: Here you'll see all the scanner drivers detected on your client or network. You can test scanners, change their priority, and select which ones to use in your sessions.

Camera Tab: If you're using a digital camera as a scanning source, this tab lets you configure camera-specific settings.

Logging Tab: This provides diagnostic logging options that Tricerat support might ask you to enable when troubleshooting scanning issues.

About Tab: View version information about your Scanning Client installation and manage Citrix plugin registration if needed.

Saving Your Changes

Here's something important to remember: when you make changes to settings on any tab, you'll need to click the Apply button (it's in the top right corner) to save them. The app saves all your changes across all tabs at once - you can't save changes on a per-tab basis. If you try to switch tabs or close the app without applying your changes, don't worry - the app will prompt you to save before you lose any work.

Once you've made and applied all your changes, simply click the Close button (X) in the upper right corner to exit the app. Your new settings will take effect in your next scanning session.
