Printing with Secure Release
With ScrewDrivers Secure Release, printing is a two-step process: you print from your session as usual, and then you release the document at the printer by tapping your badge. Nothing comes out of the printer until you're standing there, so your documents don't wait in the output tray for you or anyone else.
Secure Release is available as a beta feature starting in ScrewDrivers 7.10. If something doesn't work the way this page describes, let your administrator know.
Sending a document to print
Print the way you normally would and choose one of the Secure Release printers your administrator has assigned to you. Instead of printing right away, the printer holds your document until you release it. You can send several documents and release them together, in any order.
Your administrator may have given you a single printer that isn't tied to one device. If so, print to it and decide which printer to use when you go to release the job: it prints at whichever supported printer you tap your badge on.
Releasing your document at the printer
- Go to the Ricoh printer you printed to and open the ScrewDrivers Secure Release app on its panel.
- Tap your badge or card on the printer's card reader. A list of your held documents for that printer appears.
- Tap Print Document in the row for the document you want. It prints, and the row disappears from the list. Repeat for any other documents.
The list closes on its own after 30 seconds. If it closes before you're done, tap your badge again to bring it back. Anything you didn't release stays held for next time.
If something doesn't look right
- The list is empty. Make sure you printed to a Secure Release printer and that it's the same printer you're standing at. If it is, your badge may not be registered yet; your administrator can add it.
- The app can't connect. The printer can't reach the release server. Tell your administrator, and mention which printer you're at.
- Print Document doesn't print. Try once more, then contact your administrator if it still doesn't work.
