Main Menu Reference
The ScrewDrivers Administration main menu provides access to console configuration, supporting applications, and help resources. While you'll perform most day-to-day tasks using the icon toolbar and console panes, the main menu gives you access to global settings and utility applications that support your ScrewDrivers deployment.
Menu Structure
The main menu follows standard Windows conventions, with commands organized into three primary menus across the menu bar: File, Tools, and Help. On the right side of the menu bar, you'll also find a User icon that displays information about your current session.
File Menu
The File menu contains commands that affect the console itself and global ScrewDrivers configuration.
Options
Opens the Options dialog box where you configure settings that affect ScrewDrivers Administration behavior, database connections, and audit logging. You'll use this dialog to optimize console performance (like whether to load all owners at startup) and configure audit data retention policies. See the Admin Console Overview for detailed information about each option.
Exit
Closes ScrewDrivers Administration. If you have unsaved changes, you'll be prompted to save them before the console closes. If you don't have any unsaved data, the console closes immediately without prompts.
Tools Menu
The Tools menu provides quick access to supporting applications that complement the administration console. All of these applications are also available from the Start menu on machines where you've installed ScrewDrivers products, and most have desktop shortcuts as well.
| Application | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Database Connection | Opens the ScrewDrivers Database Connection application for managing connections to your ScrewDrivers database. You'll use this when setting up new servers, troubleshooting database connectivity, or switching between test and production environments. See Supporting Applications Overview for details. |
| Maps | Launches the ScrewDrivers Maps application, which helps users locate User Allowed printers available for self-assignment. Maps provides a visual, geographic interface for printer discovery. See Maps Reference for complete documentation. |
| Logging | Opens the ScrewDrivers Logs application for viewing detailed log files. You'll typically use this under guidance from Tricerat support when tracking down issues or debugging unexpected behavior. The logging application provides advanced filtering and real-time log viewing capabilities. |
| Licensing | Launches the ScrewDrivers Licenses application where you manage and administer licenses for your ScrewDrivers products. You'll use this to view license status, import new license files, and verify your deployment's licensing compliance. See Supporting Applications Overview for details. |
Help Menu
The Help menu connects you to support resources and product information.
Help Center
Opens Tricerat's support web page in your default browser. You'll find knowledge base articles, documentation links, and contact information for technical support on this page.
About
Displays the About dialog box with detailed information about your ScrewDrivers installation, including:
- Version numbers for all installed components
- Features enabled for your product edition (Pro vs. Enterprise)
- Installation metadata
- A Help Center link that opens Tricerat's support page
The version information displayed here is often useful when working with Tricerat support or verifying that you've successfully applied updates.
User Icon
The User icon appears on the right side of the menu bar and provides session information at a glance. Click the icon to display a tooltip showing:
- Your name as it appears in Active Directory
- Your user classification (for example, Super Admin or Restricted Admin)
- The username you used to log into ScrewDrivers Administration
- The domain you're logged into
- The computer name you're working from
This information is especially useful in environments with multiple administrators or when troubleshooting permission issues. The user classification determines what operations you can perform in the console, with Super Admins having full access to all features.
