Explorer.exe Crashes When Opening Advanced Print Features Dialog Using Hp Drivers 48955417

Problem​

An issue has been identified in Simplify Printing that can sometimes cause a crash of the application through with the Advanced Print Features dialog is selected. This is due to a crash in a COM object used by certain HP printer drivers. In newer versions of the drivers, HP has resolved this issue.

Affected Versions

  • Simplify Printing 5.8.x
  • Simplify Printing 6.x
  • HP drivers known to cause this failure:
    • HP Universal Printing PS 61.130.4.12834 x64

Solution​

If you experience this problem, try the following steps:

  1. Obtain the latest version of the universal driver from HP.
  2. If you are using the most recent universal driver from HP, switch to the device-specific driver from HP.
  3. Install the driver in the OS where the session is hosted.
