Introduction to ScrewDrivers Administration

Coming Soon

This tutorial is currently under development. We're creating an interactive guided tour that teaches you administration through real tasks, not just feature descriptions.

What You'll Learn

This tutorial teaches you ScrewDrivers administration by actually doing it. You'll work through common scenarios that administrators face every day:

  • Navigate the admin console confidently
  • Create and manage printer profiles
  • Configure client settings that apply across your environment
  • Understand entity inheritance and configuration hierarchy
  • Set up session-based printer assignments
  • Use reports to monitor system health
  • Troubleshoot common user issues from the console

What You'll Need

To get the most from this tutorial:

  • A working ScrewDrivers installation with admin console access
  • Administrator credentials
  • A few test users and printers to experiment with
  • About 2-3 hours to work through all exercises

Tutorial Overview

Rather than just describing what each button does, this tutorial walks you through realistic administrative scenarios. You'll learn by solving actual problems that administrators encounter.

Hands-On Scenarios You'll Complete

We'll work through these common situations together:

Scenario 1: New Employee Onboarding Sarah from Marketing just started. You'll configure her printer access, set her defaults, and ensure she can print from both the office and remotely.

Scenario 2: Department Reorganization The Finance team is moving to a new floor. You'll update their printer mappings and ensure everyone gets the right printers automatically on Monday morning.

Scenario 3: Performance Troubleshooting Users are complaining about slow printer discovery. You'll investigate using built-in tools, identify the issue, and implement a fix.

Scenario 4: Policy Rollout Management wants to reduce color printing costs. You'll create profiles that default to black-and-white for most users while keeping color available for those who need it.

Scenario 5: Remote Worker Support Remote employees need to print locally but also release documents at the office. You'll configure hybrid scenarios that work seamlessly.
