POC Quick Start Guide
Welcome to your ScrewDrivers Pro/Enterprise proof-of-concept! This guide gets you from zero to printing in the fastest way possible, with everything you need to set up your trial environment.
We'll provide you with a custom trial license file during your guided installation that matches your user count and trial period. This ensures you can fully test ScrewDrivers in your environment without limitations.
Server Requirements
POC Setup: Single Server (Simplest)
For proof-of-concept testing, install everything on one Windows Server:

What goes on this server:
- SQL Server Express (free) or your existing SQL Server
- Tricerat License Server
- ScrewDrivers Admin Console
- ScrewDrivers Database
What goes elsewhere:
- Session host agents (install on your RDS/VDI servers where users connect)
- Print server components (optional - only if using print server architecture)
Production Setup: Distributed Servers (Best Practice)
For production deployments, distribute components across multiple servers:

Prerequisites for All Servers
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 must be installed on:
- Management/admin workstation
- License server host
- Session hosts (RDS/VDI servers)
- Print servers (if applicable)
.NET 4.8 is pre-installed on Windows Server 2022, Windows 11, and Windows 10 version 1903+.
Important: Installing .NET 4.8 on older systems requires a reboot.

Get these files ready before your guided installation:
1. ScrewDrivers Installation Files (Download from Tricerat Box.com)

2. Prerequisites (download only if needed)
- .NET Framework 4.8 - Check if already installed via Control Panel → Programs and Features
- SQL Server Express - Only if you don't have an existing SQL Server

Already Have SQL Server?
Have this information ready:
- Server name/IP and instance name
- Admin credentials (SQL or Windows authentication)
- Verify TCP/IP connections are enabled

We'll install SQL Express (free) during setup. It's perfect for POCs and handles up to 500 users.

Installation Overview
Estimated Time: 2-4 hours (depending on environment complexity)
We'll complete these phases during your guided installation:
Phase 1: Infrastructure (30-45 min)
- Install/verify SQL Server
- Install .NET Framework 4.8 (if needed - requires reboot)
- Install and activate License Server with your trial license
Phase 2: Management Tools (30-45 min)
- Create ScrewDrivers database
- Install Admin Console
- Configure database connection and verify connectivity
Phase 3: Session Hosts (45-60 min)
- Deploy session host agents to RDS/VDI servers
- Configure printer assignments and profiles
- Test printing from a user session
Phase 4: Optional Components (if applicable)
- Print server components (for print server architecture)
- Gateway servers (for Enterprise mobile/remote printing)
- .NET 4.8 installation requires a server reboot
- Decide your architecture (print server vs. direct IP) before starting
- Ensure firewall rules allow: SQL (1433), License Server (6053), SMB (445)
