End of Life Announcement - Simplify Profiles, Desktop, and Lockdown

End of Life Announcement
Tricerat Simplify Suite 6.10 is the last supported version of Simplify Profiles, Simplify Desktop, and Simplify Lockdown. Moving forward, Tricerat will no longer provide software patches for these products and will only sell licenses to existing customers of these versions. However, Tricerat will continue to offer support for customers with active support contracts through the EOL date.
Product Discontinuation in ScrewDrivers v7
Starting in ScrewDrivers v7, Tricerat is focusing development exclusively on printing and scanning products. The legacy products listed above are no longer included as part of the installation package or management console.
If your organization still runs these programs, you can continue running 6.x versions and receive technical support from Tricerat (within the limitations described below). However, this support doesn't include software patching.
Important Dates
Understanding the milestone dates helps you plan for the transition:
End of Maintenance (EOM): December 31, 2020 Technical support changes from full maintenance to limited technical support. Starting immediately, Tricerat Development creates patches only for v6 versions in critical and security-related cases, and only with commercially reasonable efforts.
End of Life (EOL): December 31, 2021 Phone and email support is no longer provided by Tricerat. Existing licenses continue to function, and legacy documentation remains available.
Technical Support After End of Maintenance
For customers with active support contracts for Simplify Suite, Simplify Profiles, Simplify Lockdown, or Simplify Desktop, Tricerat provides continued support with the following limitations:
What Tricerat Support Will Do
- Answer questions about the products and offer configuration assistance as outlined in your support contract
- Attempt to correct problems you encounter, including case escalation to development teams to investigate configuration changes that might resolve issues
What Tricerat Support Cannot Do
Tricerat development is not providing additional code patches for these products (except in critical/security cases with commercially reasonable efforts). If investigation determines that your problem falls into one of the following categories, Tricerat cannot offer additional help:
- OS compatibility issues: Problems arising from operating systems or OS patches released after the last development update
- Third-party software conflicts: Issues arising from compatibility with other software programs on your system
- New features: Feature requests or enhancements
- Code-level fixes: Cases requiring code-level changes to correct the issue
Recommended Customer Actions
If you're currently using these products, you have options:
- Continue running existing deployments: You can continue using the software and receive technical support from Tricerat until the End of Life date (December 31, 2021).
- Plan for product discontinuation: Be aware that v7 doesn't include these products in the installation package. There won't be any additional software updates for these products.
- Evaluate alternatives: Contact Tricerat to discuss alternative solutions for your profile, desktop, and lockdown management needs.
